> 75% Research Assistance:
> * Conduct research into Chinese foreign policy, particularly as it
> relates to conflict issues in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, as
> assigned by the Project Director;
> * Assist in the drafting and editing of detailed policy reports,
> setting out relevant research findings and policy recommendations,
> exploring appropriate means of alleviating the underlying causes of
> tension and conflict;
> * Assemble relevant material including press reports, interviews,
> government data, documents, and reports, and seminars;
> * Write summary reports of forums, symposia, and conferences;
> * Monitor and summarize current developments;
> * Attend meetings with or on behalf of the Project Director as
> requested;
> * Work with Crisis Group's New York office to monitor Chinese
> positions on issues covered by the UN Security Council and other UN
> bodies.

> 25 % Office management:
> * Ensure that financial records are kept up to date, pay bills,
> submit
> accounting records to the head office in Brussels, maintain an
> accurate record of transactions, and undertake banking duties as
> necessary;
> * Coordinate the translation and distribution of Crisis Group

> and maintain the computerized distribution list;
> * Oversee the efficient functioning of the office and keep office

> Requirements:

> * MA or ABD (PhD candidate) in international affairs or related area
> with emphasis on Chinese politics and foreign policy preferred;
> * 1 - 3 years of relevant experience;

> * Superior writing and editing skills;
> * Strong research skills;
> * Excellent oral and written communication skills;
> * Proactive, well organized, and able to work as part of a team as

> * Experience living and/or working in China;
